Caring for Your Body's Health

Feeling good. Feeling strong. Feeling healthy.

The art of enjoying natural health begins with "listening" to the wisdom within your body. Those aches and pains are a sign that you've pushed too hard...or, perhaps, not hard enough. That tired feeling reminds you that you need more sleep to function at your optimimum level. These are just a couple examples of how our body "tells" us what it needs.

There are thousands of ways to boost your health and well-being. Here, I'll begin with just a few.

Massage Therapy

The healing power of touch is certainly a wonderful way to enjoy natural health. Massage soothes tired muscles, stimulates circulation, and helps the body eliminate toxins. Find out more about the many types of massage and the benefits you can expect to enjoy.

Reflexology is also known as reflex zone therapy--a holistic healing method that involves pressure and massage of the reflex points found on the hands and feet. The points act like small 'mirrors' which reflect the whole body. Vital energy, or life force circulates between organs in the body, permeating every cell and tissue. If this energy becomes blocked, the part of the body relating to the blockage is affected. By using specific techniques the reflexologist can detect gritty areas or the person recieving reflexology may experience tenderness, or discomfort. The pressure and techniques used by the therapist will assist the body to dissipate these energy blocks. Through stimulation of the circulatory and lymphatic systems, and by encouraging the release of toxins, reflexology promotes the body to heal itself.

Reflexology is an extremely effective therapy in cases of stress, tension and tiredness.

In my practice, I frequently use Reflexology techniques with my pregnant clients when they have reached their due dates and are full term. Certain points that reflex to the uterus may help stimulate labor and assist to get labor moving. Essential oils are a great adjunct too. 'Gentle Baby' and 'Lavender' are just a few favorites from Young Living Essential Oils.

Dry-Skin Brushing

Your skin is the largest organ in your body. Brush from your feet and hands toward your heart before your bath or shower. This will help you slough off dead skin and boosts your lymphatic system. Read more about dry skin brushing techniques and benefits.

Be good to your body. If you don't take care of it, it won't be there to take care of you...
